letter 023: My rock song
dear junk mail club,
the final single, “My rock song,” is out now, and the album, Somewhere On A Hillside comes out in two weeks, Friday, July 28th! mark the calendars :) you can listen to the new one by clicking here.
this title isn’t about skipping rocks at all, but it could be if you want. sometimes i think of that rock scene from “everything, everywhere, all at once” when i reread the title now. sorry if that has absolutely destroyed the song for you. maybe it’ll make it better. the other thought i have is when i first started using garageband or imovie as a kid and it would save the project files with the names “my song 1” or “my movie 4.” i love that. my video days go all the way back to windows movie maker. real ones know and recognize that default movie maker DVD burn-in title screen. little me, making videos, holding lego minifigures on a clear stick to make them move and talking in our best fake “adult” voices with my sister to act them out. this clear stick i speak of was not very clear in retrospect when i rewatch, but you have to start somewhere.
i’m learning how to start again now.
no it’s not a rock song. not a rock and roll song at least. it is about a rock. an old rock friend of mine. not rock music. not quite. though, this rock does have great music taste. it’s like i’m writing a riddle. this song speaks for itself. even making cover art felt like i might do it an injustice. okay, nothing more. this is one of my favorites. i’m honestly terrified that this one is out there, but i hope you like it.
with love forever,
garry
